The 36th Annual EAU Congress (EAU21 Virtual Congress) will see the premiere of the EAU Patient Day. For the past three years, patient involvement in the annual congress was limited to a Patient Information Session. This is going to change!
The EAU Patient Day will take place on Friday 9 July from 11.30 until 19.00. We have a series of exciting activities lined up. Here is a peak of what we have in store for you:
Patient Information Sessions
The EAU21 Virtual Congress will offer Patient Information sessions, bringing you the latest on quality-of-life issues, updates based on the 2021 EAU Guidelines and other topics of interest. All delegates with an interest in the patient perspective are welcome to join.
EAU Patient Advocacy Group Members such as the Association of Cancer Leagues (ECL), the European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC), Europa Uomo (EUomo), the Kidney Cancer Patient Coalition (IKCC) and the World Bladder Cancer Patient Coalition (WBCPC) were involved in the composition of the sessions. The detailed programmes of the Patient Information sessions on the following topics will be available soon:
- Bladder Cancer
- Kidney Cancer
- Prostate Cancer
- Life after cancer treatment
- Functional Urology
Patient Poster Session
Over the past months, patient advocates from across the globe were encouraged to actively contribute to the annual EAU Congress by submitting a poster abstract. The Patient Poster Session offers patient advocates an opportunity to share knowledge and insights into treatment and quality-of-life issues.
The Patient Poster Session is brought to you by the European Association of Urology (EAU) with programme development support from Pfizer. The editorial content of this page was written independently of the sponsor and is judged to be free of any conflict of interest.
ADT Educational Programme
The ADT Educational Programme helps prostate cancer patients manage the side effects of ADT through an interactive programme built around the book Androgen Deprivation Therapy: An essential guide for men with prostate cancer and their loved ones.
Roundtable ‘The Road to Successful Intervention’
The objective of the Roundtable is to discuss the shared responsibilities of both the healthcare provider and patient during a prostate cancer patient’s care pathway.
Do healthcare providers ask the right questions during intake? Do patients provide all the information the healthcare provider needs, such as a detailed medical history and anything that could be relevant to the decision-making process, as to what care pathway to take?
This round table discussion has been funded by Ferring Pharmaceuticals. The programme of this online activity has been independently developed and approved by the EAU Patient Office.
Patient Information Advisory Board
The Patient Information (PI) Advisory Board consists of patient group representatives who are also members of the EAU Patient Advocacy Group.
This Board is responsible for developing the EAU Patient Day as well as the selection of Patient Poster Abstracts.
