Surgery in Motion School draws enthusiastic response

The Surgery in Motion School, a new online platform for video-based urological training in basic and advance surgical procedures, has drawn enthusiastic users and visitors in Munich.

“We have a constant flow of visitors all day and they were all enthusiastic about the features of the online training and the videos,” said Antonia Moertl, one of the hostesses who are welcoming and guiding interested visitors.

Moertl showed visitors how to navigate through the user-friendly website and provided feedback forms to which the visitors and congress participants filled up their contact and email details for future reference and log-in.

Dr. Luis Enrique Ortega-Polledo, a first-year urology resident from Spain, was equally impressed.

“It’s easy to use and they have excellent videos which I just need to orient myself in various procedures. The tips are very useful,” said Ortega-Polledo, adding that he will certainly register to become part of the online community of the Surgery in Motion School.

S. Charagmolis from Greece also tested the Surgery in Motion School website and found the navigation very convenient and quick. “The programme is definitely useful since these are about skills training. Without doubt I will be visiting the site regularly,” he added. Nearby, two other visitors from India were testing and exploring the first batch of videos on robotic surgical procedures.

Navigation is done by organ, procedure and/or technique and the idea is to provide clear and practical advice and tips. There are step-by-step explanation in videos that run for one to two minutes, and the video users can compare different techniques and different surgeons.

For the 31st Annual EAU Congress, the Surgery in Motion School set up a booth at the Technical Exhibit Hall to acquaint visitors of the benefits of 24-hour online video training.

The Surgery in Motion School aims to connect, share and promote learning among its users, and at the same time develop a video-sharing community which can also exchange ideas and provide critical commentary to boost the learning experience.
