FAQ About EAU20

It is with great regret that the Board and Executive of the European Association of Urology announced the cancellation of  the postponed 35th Annual EAU Congress on 17-21 July 2020. Since public health safety measures in relation to COVID-19 are in place worldwide, raising many concerns among our community, it is felt that a face-to-face meeting in July is not possible. The safety of our congress participants and the healthcare community as a whole has our highest priority.

Please find below the answers to your frequently- asked questions:

Virtual Meeting and abstracts

Will there be a virtual meeting to replace EAU20?

Yes! On 17-19 July there will be a three-day EAU20 Virtual Congress, followed by the EAU20 Theme Week of evening sessions on July 20-26. Find more details in the scientific programme.

How do I register for the EAU20 Virtual Congress and Theme Week?
If you were already registered for EAU20, you can take part in both events free of charge. You do not need to make a new registration as your current EAU20 registration gives you free access. EAU members may also attend free of charge (no new registration is required).

Registration is open for non-EAU members who did not previously register for EAU20. Find out more about registrations here.

Do members of the press receive access to the EAU20 Virtual Congress and Theme Week?
Members of the press will have free access. A registration is required and can be made through our online registration system.

Is the Virtual Congress accredited?
The EAU20 Virtual Congress and Theme Week have been accredited by EACCME® with a maximum of 31 hours of European external CME credits. Find out more about the accreditation here.

What does the congress cancellation mean for accepted abstracts? Will they still be published in European Urology®?
Although EAU20 has been cancelled, the EAU will proceed as planned with the publication of all accepted abstracts in the 2020 July supplement to European Urology®.

We intend to place all abstract presentations online and will provide instructions on how to upload pre-recorded PowerPoint presentations shortly.

Can I wait and present my accepted abstract next year at EAU21?
No, abstract acceptances for EAU20 cannot be forwarded to the EAU21 meeting. All abstracts accepted for EAU20 will be published in the 2020 July Supplement of European Urology®.

The EAU21 abstract submission process will proceed as scheduled, with the submission period opening in July 2020.



Will I receive a refund of my registration fee for the EAU20 Congress in Amsterdam?

All registration fees (including fees for ESU courses etc) will be refunded for EAU20 in Amsterdam. Please allow us some time to process all refunds over the coming months.

If you paid for your registration with a credit card, you will automatically be reimbursed and you do not need to contact us.

If you paid for your registration with a bank transfer, please complete this form and send it to registrations@congressconsultants.com. Please be sure to fill it out completely and include your EAU20 registration number at the top.

Please, rest assured that we have a dedicated team working on this. Once we have processed your refund, we will email you a confirmation message.

Everyone who is registered for the physical EAU20 congress in Amsterdam will receive a full refund + free access to the EAU20 Virtual Congress.


Will the EAU refund charges for cancelling flights?

Charges for cancelling flights will not be refunded by the EAU. We advise you to contact your travel agency or airline as soon as possible. Many airlines decided to be very flexible regarding flight changes due to the current situation. You could also check with your insurance company if you can claim the costs for cancelling with them.


Hotel Accommodation

Who should I contact with regards to my hotel accommodation?

If you booked your hotel accommodation for EAU20 via the official EAU Housing agency K.I.T. Group you may contact eau2020hotels@kit-group.org for assistance. They are currently working on processing the cancellations for the initial March dates. As these are unprecedented times for all parties, this process can, unfortunately, take some time.

If you booked your accommodation directly with a hotel or other booking platform, please contact the hotel, booking platform or travel agency that you used for the booking.

Will the EAU refund accommodation?

Charges for re-booking or cancelling of hotel accommodation will not be refunded by the EAU. We advise you to contact the hotel or booking agency you used, or alternatively your insurance company to check if you can claim the costs for rescheduling or rebooking with them.
