EAU25: Rare and complex uro-recto-genital diseases and conditions
ERN eUROGEN, the European Reference Network (ERN) dedicated to rare uro-recto-genital diseases and complex conditions, is an essential collaborative network established under the European Union’s health framework. Its mission is to improve diagnosis, treatment, and care for patients affected by rare and complex conditions within the scope of urology.
Preview of ERN eUROGEN’s Thematic Session at EAU25
ERN eUROGEN will host a Thematic Session on 21 March 2025, from 13:00 to 14:30 CET, at the annual European Association of Urology (EAU) Congress in Madrid.
The session will offer an update on the latest advancements in the management and research of rare and complex uro-recto-genital conditions, particularly emphasising cross-border collaboration and multidisciplinary care.
Programme highlights will include an introduction by W. Feitz (NL). He will provide an overview of ERN eUROGEN’s impact and future directions.
The ERN eUROGEN Patient Advocacy Group (ePAG) will share insights with presentations on advocacy efforts and experiences of patients affected by penile cancer and Klinefelter Syndrome/XXY.
In “Workstream 1: Rare congenital uro-rectogenital anomalies”, G. Mosiello (IT) will discuss the role of multidisciplinary team management in patients with spina bifida and anorectal malformation. M. Peycelon (FR) will address advancements in managing posterior urethral valves, emphasising lessons from multicentric studies. To conclude, P. Lopez Pereira (ES) will discuss penile curvature in proximal hypospadias.
In “Workstream 2: Functional uro-recto-genital conditions requiring highly specialised surgery”, B. Dobrowolska-Glazar (PL) will explore bladder and bowel dysfunction in patients with neurogenic bladder, highlighting the importance of transitional care.
In “Workstream 3: Rare uro-recto-genital tumours”, P. Mulders (NL) will present on hereditary kidney cancer, and N. Knežević (HR) and J.F. Langenhuijsen (NL) will jointly present on the incidence and diagnostics of adrenal cancer, sharing insights from recent research and collaborative studies. This thematic session is a must-attend event for professionals working with rare uro-recto-genital diseases. It offers a unique opportunity to meet experts and explore new research and clinical practices.
